LLIMF Artistic Advisor Alexandre Moutouzkine leads Master Class at New York’s Steinway Hall
Young Scholars Alexander Liu, Taige Wang and Sencheng Zhang enjoyed a master class at New York’s Steinway Hall on May 6th with LLIMF Artistic Advisor Alexander Moutouzkine, Co-Head of the Piano Department at the Manhattan School of Music.
The Scholars explored pieces by Brahms, Liszt and Scriabin. Thank you to Professor Moutouzkine for also sharing your deep wealth of knowledge on the works of these composers and the cultural history that inspired their music.

Alexander Liu, 13, is a piano student at Juilliard Pre-College under the tutelage of Professor Orli Shaham. He is a 2024-2026 Young Scholar of the Lang Lang International Music Foundation.
Alexander has earned top prizes in competitions such as the Gold Medal at the 30th Vancouver Symphony Orchestra Young Artist Competition, First Prize at the 2023 Philadelphia International Piano Competition and the XIII Chopin International Piano Competition. He was also named the 2023 New York State Winner of the MTNA Competition. In July 2025, he will appear as a finalist in the MostArts Festival Young Pianist Competition, performing both solo and a concerto with the MostArts Festival Orchestra.
He has performed with orchestras such as the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra USA, the Sound Symphony Orchestra, the Brooklyn Conservatory Community Orchestra, and the Midwest Young Artists Orchestra. His performances have taken him to distinguished venues including Carnegie Hall’s Stern Auditorium and Weill Recital Hall, where he has performed in more than ten winner’s recitals, as well as New York Town Hall and the National Arts Club.
He has been awarded full scholarships to prestigious programs such as Morningside Music Bridge (2024), the Aspen Music Festival (2025), Musikfestspiele Saar in Germany (2025), and the Young Scholars Summer Academy at Cambridge University in England (2025). He is also a three-time recipient of the Takako Saegusa Scholarship.
Alexander enjoys sharing music with others and has served as a youth mentor since 2019. He was recognized with the President’s Volunteer Service Award (Gold Level) in 2023 and 2024.

14-year-old Taige Wang, a Young Steinway Artist and a Young Scholar of the Lang Lang International Music Foundation, studies piano at The Juilliard School with Yoheved Kaplinsky.
Taige started learning piano and gave his first public performance at the age of four. The next year, he performed live on China Central Television, and won his first competition at regional Steinway & Sons Competition. By the age of seven, he gave his first full solo recital at the invitation of Steinway & Sons.
Since then, Taige has had numerous piano competition wins to his name, including the YAMAHA Piano E Competition; Los Angeles International Liszt Competition; Chicago International Music Competition and Rosalyn Tureck International Bach Piano Competition, among others.
In 2023, as the youngest competitor, Taige made the quarterfinals at The Cliburn Junior Competition, and was one of the three finalists at the Thomas and Evon Cooper International Piano Competition, where he performed with the world-renowned Cleveland Orchestra.
Taige appeared on the show NPR’s From the Top in 2021 and at From The Top’s 2022 Gala, in which he was the youngest of three nationally-selected musicians. He has played at various prestigious venues, including Carnegie Hall Stern Auditorium, Nixon Presidential Library Museum, Lincoln Center, Severance Hall, and Henan Grand Theater (China).
Taige studies composition with Bruce Adolphe. As a prize-winning composer, his piano trio Chopin vs Chopin 2.0 was commissioned by the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, and he performed its debut at Alice Tully Hall on April 16, 2023.
Taige received the American President’s Volunteer Service Gold Award in 2022.

At the age of 3, he began to learn piano from his mother. At the age of 10, he continued to study piano with Matti Raekallio. He was invited to perform at Carnegie Hall twice.
At the age of 9, he was signed by KNS Classical Records in Europe. Debut solo album “True Love” – Sencheng Zhang. He collaborated with the Cross-Strait Arts Youth United Symphony Orchestra on the whole movement of Mozart Concerto KV488/537, which was highly praised. In 2023, he was invited again to participate in the GOCAA International Concert Festival and cooperated with Wuhan Philharmonic Orchestra on Mozart’s Coronation Concerto and achieved a complete success. In the 5th World Piano Teachers Association Finland International Piano Competition, Junior Section – Category D, he received Absolute Awards (and won scholarships to participate in master classes and art exchange activities in Weimar, Germany). At the American Protege International Concerto Competition 2023, Sencheng won a First Place (Age Category 12 and under). In 2023, Sencheng was invited to Russia to cooperate with the “ГУБЕРНСКИЙ СИМФОНИЧЕСКИЙ ОРКЕСТР” Symphony Orchestra and perform two sets of Mozart and Poulenc concerto concert. The performance was a complete success.
