Keys of Inspiration Names Jung Eun Hong as the 2024-2025 Teacher of the Year

The Lang Lang International Music Foundation has named Jung Eun Hong, from New York City Public Schools, the 2024–2025 Keys of Inspiration Teacher of the Year, presented through the Foundation’s Keys of Inspiration (KOI) program.

Originally from South Korea, Jung has made extraordinary contributions to the Keys of Inspiration program. At PS 214K Michael Friedsam School in Brooklyn, she has created a step-by-step teaching approach that integrates piano practice, music theory, music history, music appreciation, and ensemble performance. She has also created a library of self-made, professional-grade video lessons from the Lang Lang Piano Method series, established an international partnership with the UK KOI Risley Primary School in London – culminating in a joint recital and celebration, collaborated with the Children of Ukraine Educational Center in Warsaw, Poland, and presented at the Keys of Inspiration Conference in Charleston, SC.

“I have built a piano program at PS 214K Michael Friedsam School, where students have had learning experiences that empower them, deepen their understanding of musical content and skills” Jung says in a statement, “The Lang Lang International Music Foundation brought us a Piano Lab for students, where they are able to safely release their emotions, take chances, explore, grow, and come together while they engage in individual and community learning.”
