The Launch of a Global Musical Journey

Young Scholars Piano Academy – Beijing

In May 2025, the Lang Lang International Music Foundation launched the Global Piano Academy of Young Scholars with a one-week residency in Beijing, China.

In partnership with the Central Conservatory of Music, 18 exceptional young pianists from around the world came together for intensive masterclasses, artistic mentoring, and rich cultural exchange. They explored Beijing’s history, cuisine, and arts, forging lasting friendships across borders.

The week concluded with a spectacular Great Wall Concert, where the Scholars performed against the backdrop of one of the world’s most iconic landmarks — a powerful symbol of the Academy’s mission to unite cultures through classical music.

“No words can hardly express my profound gratitude for this extraordinary week. It has been a tremendous honor to take part in such inspiring events, learn from masterclasses, and perform for such an enthusiastic audience. Our explorations of the Great Wall and the Forbidden City turned each day into something truly magical.” Sencheng Zhang, China

“I would like to express my utmost gratitude to the Lang Lang Foundation for this incredible week. It is such an honor to be invited here and to perform for such a wonderful audience. This week, I learned a great deal from the masterclasses and lectures, and I also had a fantastic time visiting the Great Wall and the Forbidden City. While I have a lot of schoolwork to catch up on, I have no regrets about skipping school to attend this event, and I would do it again a thousand times over. I can’t wait to see you all again in Cleveland!” – Ryan Huang, Canada

“Thank you so much for providing us with this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity! I still can’t believe we had the chance to perform at the Great Wall; it was my first and probably last time there! I would also like to thank my peers and their families, with whom I was lucky to share these unforgettable memories.” Taige Wang, USA

“We came to Beijing as individuals. We left as an international community.”
