The National Art Centre of Ottawa, Ontario Canada hosted its first 101 Pianists!
Young pianists from the region were pre-selected to participate in the event, performing two different arrangements of selected scores. Lang Lang conducted the young musicians with the assistance of the National Arts Centre’s new music director Alexander Shelley. In a final performance in Southam Hall, music lovers of all ages experienced the extraordinary culmination of work with 101 pianists!
“It’s a one in a lifetime opportunity to meet and perform with Lang Lang! Lang Lang is one of my role models in piano, and I’m sure for the other 99 young people who will be playing. He works really hard, and I think he can inspire all of us to find pleasure in the music.” – 101 Pianists Participant, Yuyang Xie, CBC Radio
