Lang Lang Performs at the private event held by Luxaviation Group
Luxaviation Group, the second largest corporate aircraft operator in the world, held a private event in the Luxaviation Paris Hangar for clients and partners thanking them for their dedicated support over the past years. The incredible evening included the world-‐renowned Chinese pianist, Lang Lang, who delivered a memorable performance.
In addition to Lang Lang performing at the recent Paris Luxaviation concert, the audience were amazed by 12-year old Sherri Lun, who played before Lang Lang. She is a Young Scholar of the Lang Lang International Music Foundation and has been playing the piano since age 4. As a Young Scholar, Sherri joined Lang Lang in the 101 Pianists events in Shenzhen and in Hong Kong. She collaborated with Midwest Young Artists (MYA) to perform piano concerto at the Ravinia Music Festival and Millennium Park in Chicago in the summers of 2014 and 2015. Sherri benefited from the masterclass of Lang Lang and his teacher Gary Graffman at Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris.
“Being a LLIMF young scholar is a once-in-a-lifetime event for me!!! Through this program, I had the chance to share my passion towards music with other talented musicians in different places. I met a lot of amazing friends and it was an unforgettable experience working with the other scholars. Each of these experiences let me exceed my limits and made me realize how great music is. It is truly an universal language which every person around the world can speak and understand, and we can use this language to communicate our feelings which sometimes can’t be put into words. These memories will always be stuck in my mind.”
Sherri Lun is a 12 years old pianist. She is now studying Secondary 1 at Diocesan Girls’ School in Hong Kong. Sherri started her first piano lesson in the age of 4. One year later, she got her first Champion in the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival. She was admitted to the Junior Music Program of Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) on piano major in the age of 7 and became a student of Ms Hui Ling. Sherri won multiple champion prizes in the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival. In 2011, Sherri got the first runner-up in the Steinway and Sons International Youth Piano Competition (China section) held in Beijing. In 2013, she won a Claude Debussy Prize in the Hong Kong Music Competition for Young Pianists. Sherri’s performance appeared at the “Yes I Can Recital 2014” program of Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK). In 2015, Sherri won the Bronze Prize from the 16th Chopin International Piano Competition in ASIA held in Japan. She also got the first runner-up of the Piano Solo Junior Exhibiter Award in the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival. In 2016, Sherri won the First Prize for the Free Choice Class and Third Prize for the Children Class of the 19th Hong Kong – Asia Piano Competition.
In 2013, Sherri was selected as a Young Scholar of Lang Lang International Music Foundation.
Sherri loves music very much. “It is a language which everyone in the world can communicate with. We can share our feelings through music.” Beethoven is her favourite composer. In addition to playing piano, Sherri also plays viola and sings. She is a violist in the HKAPA Junior Symphony Orchestra (JSO). Sherri also actively participated in the String Orchestra and Symphony Orchestra of her secondary school. Sherri joined the Hong Kong Children’s Choir since she was 5. She is also a choir member and pianist of the Junior Choir of her school.
Other than music, Sherri likes reading and playing badminton.
